Cough, snort, tears ... hay, it must be springTHERE just appears nothing can stop Bart Cummings at this time of year. Nothing, that is, except horses. We kid you not. What is a little-known fact about our greatest trainer is that he gets bad hay fever and is allergic to horse feed, horse hair, even hay. Those who know him well say he's so tough he wouldn't cry if you stamped on his foot. But get him near horses and the tears start rolling to the point that rarely do you see him during a spring carnival when his eyes are not leaking. So how does he deal with it, he was once asked. "You think positive," he said. "And battle on."
